U.S. service members who used 3M’s Combat Arms earplugs and suffered hearing loss or tinnitus may be eligible for a part of the $6 billion settlement.
This settlement, which includes $5 billion in cash and $1 billion in 3M stock, comes after the company faced over 250,000 product liability cases, making it the largest mass tort in U.S. history. 3M maintains that the earplugs are safe and has not admitted liability.

Allegations surfaced that the earplugs were defective, causing hearing loss and tinnitus in service members.
Claimants must decide by approximately the end of February 2024 whether to accept their settlement share or opt for a trial.
Plaintiffs with minor hearing issues opting for a speedy process could receive over $20,000, while those with severe hearing damage might receive more but face a longer process
